Continuing Legal Education (CLE)

It is mandatory for attorneys, if they are to remain members of the New York State practicing bar, to earn 24 hours of CLE education credits every two years. Four of these credits must be ethics related. Newly admitted attorneys are required to earn 32 credits.

The Office of Court Administration regulates compliance. For a list of providers, and a copy of the rules, go to the website of the New York State Unified Court System. or call (212) 428-2105. You may also e-mail CLE at CLE@courts.state.ny.us.

The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) in Albany also offers an ongoing statewide CLE program.

For information about NYSBA CLE offerings, go to www.nysba.org/cle for their statewide schedule.
